چکیده

By means of improved empirical fits to the differential cross section data on pp elastic scattering at 19.4 ≤ √s ≤ 62.5 GeV and making use of a semi-analytical method, we determine the eikonal in the momentum transfer space (the inverse scattering problem). This method allows the propagation of the uncertainties from the fit parameters up to the extracted eikonal, providing statistical evidence that the imaginary part of the eikonal (real part of the opacity function) presents a zero (change of signal) in the momentum space, at q ≈ 7 ± 1 GeV. We discuss the implication of this change of signal in the phenomenological context, showing that eikonal models with one zero provide good descriptions of the differential cross sections in the full momentum transfer range, but that is not the case for models without zero. Empirical connections between the extracted eikonal and results from a recent global analysis on the proton electric form factor are also discussed, in special the Wu-Yang conjecture. In addition, we present a critical review on the pp differential cross section data presently available at high energies.

We present the results of fitting elastic pp differential cross section data at 23.5 ≤ √ s ≤ 62.5 GeV with a novel analytic parametrization for the scattering amplitude. Making use of a fitting method, the errors from the free parameters are propagated to the imaginary part of the eikonal in the momentum transfer space. In the present work, the scattering differential cross section has been investigated for ion-multi electron atoms collision in the charge transfer channel. For this purpose, an active electron model was implemented and the collision process was considered as a three-body impact in the high energy range. A semi-classical formalism was used with the eikonal distorted wave function to describe the...

HELICITY AND PLANAR AMPLITUDES IN PION-PROTON SCATTERING AT 6.0 GeV/c

In addition to optimal conditions, invariant laws of Lorentz, parity and time reversal are imposed to find the relation between observables (spin rotation parameters) and bilinear combination of helicity amplitudes in pion-proton elastic scattering at 6.0 GeV/c. By normalizing the differential cross-section to unity, the magnitudes of helicity amplitudes and the angle between them are dete...

(e,e'p) reaction and the transition to the eikonal regime.

The reliability of the models describing the Final-State Interactions (FSI) in (e,ep) scattering at high proton energies is an important issue in view of the experiments planned at CEBAF. One of the most popular approaches adopted, the Glauber method, involves the linearization of the wave equation for the ejected proton travelling through the residual nucleus. We have studied the consequences ...
